I've been meaning to blog about some stuff that has been on my mind lately, but I haven't had the motivation to. Sharing night was yesterday and I spontaneously decided to share, but it was totally a failed sharing. My thoughts were not very organized...but it was encouraging to hear that some people knew what I was trying to say. ha ha ha.
So going into my fourth year at Waterloo, and still single (hahahaha), a question that often pops up is "if there are any boys." The people who ask largely consist of family members and then there are a few friends.
This term, I was blessed by having weekly (or almost weekly) meetings with my housemates and AW. We were able to share, pray and go through John MacArthur's book, "God's high calling for women." The discussions that we had while going through this book really made me think about whether or not I am following the things outlined in 1 Tim 2:9-15.
In some way, when I entered university, I was subconsciously looking for a potential husband, and the start of a "checklist" was created when people asked me what I looked for in a guy. I had difficulty with guarding my heart and I fell into temptation and sin, and in the end, I was left turning to God for strength, healing and repentance.
I realize now that along with immaturity, I was no where near ready to be pursued. I should not be looking for a potential husband, but rather examining myself, and whether or not I have the characteristics of a wife that is a woman of God. Must keep seeking!
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Psalms 31:30
Well said, Jas :)
