#nursinglife

Having a fast patient turnover lets me encounter many different people and learn their stories. I have decided to write about some of the ones I will remember as reminders to myself.

Patient Story 01: elderly man who came in with a fractured hip and is a current caregiver for his wife.

While at the hospital, he received a call that his wife had been admitted to the ER at the same hospital. He was obviously distressed and worried about her, saying that he hasn't seen her since his surgery which was about 5 days prior. After the day progressed, we were notified that his wife had moved to the ICU and was allowed visitors. Since it was a pretty slow day, I was able to leave the floor and take my patient to see his wife. We found her room and the first thing my patient's wife said to him was, "how did you find me?" And he grabbed her hand and started crying. He introduced her to me as his sweetheart for 66 years and he still can't get enough of her.

Lesson: Till death do us part; no regrets.
