Although I have been cooped up in my Lester house for the past few days, I have been overjoyed with a few visitors and lots of yummy treats! :)
Why was I allowed to go out? Because my parents came to visit me today :)
We went out to eat and it was good. My mom noticed that I laugh at everything that my dad says and at one moment, my mom started laughing hysterically at me for laughing at my dad! It's quite an unusual thing to see my mom laughing so hard, but it was nice to see :)
My mom also told me a secret...that my dad had been working 9am-10pm every day for the past few weeks! He corrected her in saying that it's only 10am-9pm and it's not EVERY day, but still...that's a long time!
My mom made a comment on how work was "#1" in my dad's life and that he almost forgot that they had planned on visiting me today! But then my dad said that she got it all wrong and he is working hard so that he can put me through school. D: That hit me really hard. I am definitely very blessed to be able to go through schooling without having to worry about tuition and it is very easy to forget how much (my) parents sacrifice for their children. One reason why my dad has been working so late is because he is short staffed and he asked me today if I was for sure not going to be home this summer...because if I'm not, then he has to hire someone to work for him. A part of me really wants to work for him because it takes a lot of time to train a new tech and the past few techs that my dad has hired aren't very good....
I was also reminded of how blessed we are during grad dinner, when LC was sharing about the man he had talked to before grad dinner started. While praying, I was actually overwhelmed by this realization and I started to cry. God has definitely carried my family through some difficult times. He pulled me back when I had gone astray and I have learned to place my hope in Him alone.
Being Good Friday today, I was reminded of what Christ did for us on the cross. The ultimate blessing: by grace we are saved and are no longer slaves to sin, but slaves to Christ.
Keep striving to the end!
