I was looking through my things in my lion's den and came across a book that one of my patients gave to me to read. He told me to read it and pass it along to my brothers to read (it's a historical book about the Japanese and Chinese). After I read it, this patient wanted me to give him a call and meet up to talk about the book. As my patient, obviously it's not recommended to do such things, but after they are discharged you can do whatever you want (even start a relationship...but that life ain't for me).
This patient also shared with me some of his life problems outside of being in the hospital. I listened, and when he invited me to give him advice, I did. This memory got me thinking about all the people you meet in your lifetime. What kind of impact do you have on their lives? People come and go. When they leave, will they remember you? Will they think about you?
Even if you are forgotten, there are some people you will never forget.
